Columbia Business School 7th Annual News & Finance Conference—Free Event

The Columbia Business School’s 7th Annual News & Finance Conference is bringing together prominent journalists, finance researchers, and industry professionals to explore the ways in which financial markets and the media influence each other.

The event will include academic and industry presentations as well as panel discussions to address three overarching questions:

  1. How does the interaction between financial markets and the media affect real economic activity?
  2. How do the incentives of people who create news affect market responses?
  3. How do we best measure the information content of news articles?

A panel (“Using Text Data for Financial Decisions”) to discuss the use of NLP and machine learning tools in finance and media will include
